Alexandros considers photography first and foremost as an exquisite tool for the research and study of the realm of visual perception and the processes taking place behind the camera, in the human brain, where meaning is created from all which lies in front of our eyes.

Photography, in a sense is situated right in the center of the scale of observation mediums; with the telescopes on one end looking up towards the surrounding unknowns of the Universe on a grand scale, while on the other end Quantum Mechanics theorizes and visualizes the unimaginably small, peering at the world everytime with even more questions than affirmations. On the human level, the cross pollinating field of Cognitive Science, aided by the enhancements of technology, peels off one by one the layers that constitute our meaningful realities.

Lambrovassilis’ work explores and develops a sequential syntax, investigating the boundaries of meaning in a visual narrative. The white space around and between the images represents the unknown, what is to be found in our exploration of the Universe and the human mind. The space is dedicated to the absence of description and clarification. While the photographs stand like certainties, depictions of an understanding.

In the fall of 2017 Alexandros completed an assignment for a permanent installation at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum. To be announced.
